Obtaining a duplicate passport
In order to obtain a duplicate passport, the following documents are needed:
- Seven photographs passport size photographs (size 3.5 cm X 3.5 cm with light background showing frontal view of full face);
- Police report (in original) about loss of passport;
- Photocopy of the passport or original passport in case of damaged passport;
- Any Indian Photo Identity card or any Indian document indicating Indian nationality;
Application for duplicate passport should be made in person.
The Embassy is in a position to issue duplicate passport as per current delivery schedule in all clear cases. In all other cases, duplicate passport is issued only on receipt of verification from the concerned Regional Passport Authority in India and also subject to the legal/ resident status of the applicant in Belgium. Applicants are, therefore, requested to avoid making written or telephone inquiries during this period.
It is important to furnish full, accurate and truthful information in the form. Misrepresentation of facts may result in the denial of passport facilities. Applications received with incomplete details will remain unprocessed. Habitual losers of passports may be denied further passport facilities.
Note: While the requirements mentioned above are complete in all respects, the Embassy has the right to require any original documents, at any stage and these documents should be presented for scrutiny and satisfaction of the Consular Officer.
