The Embassy of India in Brussels is organizing an Evening of Hindustani Classical Vocal Music by renowned exponent from India, Mr. Subhankar Chatterjee, at 6:45 PM on Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Auditorium of this Embassy at 217 Chaussee de Vleurgat, 1050 Ixelles, Brussels.

 

Having trained under legendary exponents like Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Mr. Subhankar Chatterjee has made a prominent name for himself in the realm of Hindustani Classical Vocal Music not only in India, but also across the world.  Commencing his taleem in music at a tender age, he became the proud recipient of Government of India’s National Scholarship in Music and subsequently rendered outstanding performances at important music platforms like The Dover Lane Music and Dance Festival (1997), Tanjavur Festival (1998), Mahabalipuram Festival (1998), West Bengal State Music Academy (1998), Ganga Mahotsav (1994), Konarak Music and Dance Festival (1999), Kalajyoti Utsav in ICCR Kolkata (2013), ICCR Horizon series, Patna (2014) etc.

 

Mr. Chatterjee has also moved the global audience through his performances at the Indian Embassy in Yangon (1998), High Commission of India in Dhaka and Asst. High Commission of India in Chittagong (2001), Indian Embassy in Qatar (2001),the Nehru Centre in London (2002 & 2010), Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, UK (2002), Theater Am Faden, Germany (2003, 2005 & 2007), Goethe Gymnasium, Vienna (2004 & 2006), Music and Dance Festival in The Hague (2005 & 2006), Milap Festival in the UK (2005) etc.  Besides, Mr. Chatterjee has performed at prominent platforms in the UAE, Myanmar and the USA presenting his wide-repertoire of Ghazals, Holi, Kajri, Chaiti geet etc. besides western fusion with popular western bands of Africa, Brazil and Europe.

 

Mr. Chatterjee has released several music albums besides undertaking playback singing for popular Bengali films. He had the distinction of being invited by the popular German radio “Bayern Classic” to present his vocal recital on the 15th of October 2011at Munich in Germany. He had been a visiting lecturer at the Freies Music Zentrum at Munich in Germany in 2008 and is currently imparting music lessons at the prestigious Kalajyoti Gurukul in Kolkata where he also trains residential foreign students and veterans of western classical music.
