Passport for a minor

All minors (up to 15 years of age) need to have a separate passport and their name can no longer be included in the parent's passport. The passport of the minor will be valid for five years from the date of issue or till 18 years of age whichever is less.

No appointment is required for submitting the application. Counter applicant should follow the Embassy hours to submit their applications at the Embassy on any business day.

Following documents are required:


  • Original passport;
  • Four photographs (size 3.5 cm X 3.5 cm with light background showing frontal view of full face);
  • Prescribed fee of Euro 30. Fee has to be paid in cash only, at the counter;
  • Birth Certificate;
  • Registration of birth at the Indian Embassy if child born in Belgium or if the child's name is endorsed on either parent's passport, then passport of that parent (Passport in this case would be issued to the minor child only after deletion of child's name from the passport of the parent); Birth registration fee Euro 16.
  • Attested passport copies of both parents;
  • Consent letter of both parents in the form of a sworn Affidavit. If both parents are not making a personal appearance to submit the application, the sworn Affidavit is required to be attested by the Indian Mission/Post in the country of their residence.

Note: While the requirements mentioned above are complete in all respects, the Embassy has the right to require any original documents, at any stage and these documents should be presented for scrutiny and satisfaction of the Consular Officer.
