Visit of the Minister of External Affairs to New York for the 64th General Assembly

The official engagements of External Affairs Minister on 24 September 2009 in New York began with a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the morning. The two leaders discussed bilateral and international issues of mutual concern.

In the afternoon EAM attended a Ministerial meeting of the BRIC countries [Brazil, Russia, India and China] which was organized by Brazil. A press communiqué was issued at the conclusion of the meeting. Following this, EAM also attended a meeting of the Commonwealth Foreign Ministers held at the UN.

In the evening, EAM attended a reception hosted in his honour by Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations.
