Vesak Day celebrated at the European Parliament on 24 May 2018

The Embassies of Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand organized a special discussion on the universal message of Buddhism, on the occasion of Vesak , commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and Parinirvana of the Buddha on Thursday, 24th May 2018 at the European Parliament. The Keynote address was delivered by the Venerable Napan Santibhaddo, Deputy Abbot at Wat Saket Temple, Bangkok on the theme 'Buddha Day and SDGs: From Individual’s Inner Peace to Peaceful Society'. Member of European Parliament, Mr. Geoffery Van Orden, , President, Buddhist Association of Belgium, Mr. Carlo Luyckx, and Ambassadors of Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand also participated in the discussions. Around 50 people from the European Parliament, diplomatic corps, Buddhist associations and diaspora organizations participated in the event.
